One of Sweden’s most forward-looking public developments – the new Enköping Municipal House – is realized through an advanced hybrid structural system integrating timber, concrete, and steel. This is a modern, efficient 5 500 m² workspace for approximately 450 employees, featuring generous open common areas and a central atrium.
SWETCH was responsible for the structural design of the entire project including timber structures.
Our team engineered long-span floor and roof systems with a strong focus on structural efficiency, serviceability performance, and vibration control. The result is a resilient, resource-efficient structural framework that supports the architectural intent while meeting ambitious sustainability targets.
A distinctive feature of the project is the suspended timber staircase, elegantly integrated into the roof’s steel beam system. This element is not only architecturally expressive but also structurally demanding, requiring precise coordination of load transfer, stiffness, and connection detailing to achieve both visual lightness and robust performance.
