Swetch is developing the design for prefabricated reinforced concrete and steel structures for the Malmö Arena project. The arena integrates a full-size football pitch, spectator stands, a basketball hall, sports-focused high school educational facilities, and office spaces—forming a dynamic 30,000 m² hub for sports, education, and community life.
The project incorporates numerous spatially complex, curved, and multi-directionally inclined elements, including unique five-point star-shaped brick columns.
From a structural design perspective, the most challenging components are the pre-cambered trusses above the basketball hall, the concrete façades supported by cantilevered floor slabs, and the exceptionally tall arena columns—approximately 24 m in height, comparable to a nine-storey building, and constructed in a single continuous concrete pour.
