SWETCH delivered the structural and dynamic performance design for the new office tower and congress facilities at Spektrumkvarteret, one of the most ambitious redevelopment projects in central Oslo.

The project includes a 108-metre-tall high-rise office tower constructed directly above and structurally integrated with the existing Oslo Spektrum arena, which is being rebuilt and expanded into a state-of-the-art congress and cultural venue.

The new congress hall will add up to approximately 3,000 people in seated configuration, by that expending total event capacity up to 11,500 for concerts, exhibitions, and large-scale events. Due to the architectural concept and structural layout, large parts of the tribunes and floor structures are carried by cantilevers of up to 10 meters, creating demanding vibration and serviceability requirements.

To ensure a high level of user comfort, acoustic quality, and structural performance, the design incorporates tuned mass dampers (TMDs) to control vibrations induced by crowds, music, and dynamic loading – enabling the building to meet both strict engineering criteria and premium user expectations
